Nasolabial Folds

Nasolabial Folds are the diagonal lines which run from the bottom of the nose to the corner of the lips. These lines become permanent over time by the repeated expressions we use when smiling or laughing. A reduction in collagen, elastin and fat in that same area also contributes to lines seen in the aging face. If these smile lines are beginning to bother you, we can restore lost facial volume and reduce the appearance of these folds with a conservative use of dermal fillers.

Dermal fillers are a gel-like substance made of hyaluronic acid (HA) as the active agent. HA is naturally produced in the body and binds to water to create a youthful look. We lose hyaluronic acid as we age, so this reintroduction of filler into the areas of volume loss in the nasolabial folds naturally smooths out the deeper lines.  An additional option for treatment of deeper nasolabial folds is placing fillers in the cheek area to restore lost mid-face volume which often presents as sagging facial skin in the lower third of the face. Fillers placed in both of these areas helps to stimulate collagen – an added benefit! The results are immediate and lasts 6 months or longer!
